How does each unit operate? Each unit operates differently, but are all easy to operate. Each unit and/or mode requires either a press of a button, a turn of a dial, or the press/pull of a lever. Click here, and then click on the individual product to read a description of how each works.
Do I have to replace my toilet? Almost never. Solution ComfortSeat® units install on almost all existing residential toilets. Only certain irregular-shaped designer toilets are incompatible, and may need to be replaced to use one of our units. In some cases, single-piece designer toilets may accept a unit, with the use of an adapter or with minimal modification. High-pressure commercial toilets may also be compatible with some adaptation. Do I have to replace my toilet seat? Several units (SCS-6000, SCS-4000, and the SCS-1000) replace your existing seat, while other units install under your existing seat (or a specialty seat, purchased from us). Click here, and then click on the individual product for more details on each unit.
My home has very hard water... Is this OK? Some of our electronic Solution ComfortSeat® units, which heat water in a storage tank, may be prone to blockage due to sediment and hard water build-up. We have small inline water filters available, which may help reduce hard water buildup and prolong the life of the unit. They are easy to install, and each filter lasts between 6 ~ 12 months, depending on usage and water conditions. We only recommend the filter if your water is very hard, as adding the filter - in some cases - can reduce the fill rate of the unit. While the unit will spray with the same force, extensive use might require that the unit stop spraying for a few seconds so the unit's water tank can re-fill.
Is this a bidet? They technically aren't bidets, according to most medical and insurance/aid parlance... Per mandate, a TRUE bidet is exclusively the traditional stand-alone non-electric porcelain fixtures. The term "bidet" is often applied to other consumer toilet-mounted hygiene units as a convenience, but it is really a misnomer. In actuality, such units are designated "adaptive toileting aids," with "bidet features." This has been set to avoid consumers, plumbing professionals, and agencies from confusing the two different product categories for professional classification.

In the case of the Solution ComfortSeat® units; our units take the original simple concept of the bidet, and modernize it to help assist physically challenged users with special needs or people who want exceptional assistance, without the need to transfer to a separate washing unit. They are classified as an "Adaptive Durable Medical Toileting Assistive Aid."

If you are planning on getting reimbursement, remember... DO NOT refer to this unit a "bidet" (porcelain bidets are generally not covered by most insurance plans), to avoid miscategorization. Instead, refer to it as a "Durable Medical Toileting Assistive Aid" when speaking with your agent. We know; it sounds kind of peculiar - but insurance companies and government agencies can be very particular when it comes to terminology. Speaking casually, however, most people will know what you're talking about when you call a Solution ComfortSeat® a bidet.
Is the unit easy to install? Solution ComfortSeat® units are designed to be quickly and easily installed by an ablebodied person - NO PLUMBER REQUIRED. An ablebodied adult can typically install most of our units with just a flat-head screwdriver and a medium-sized adjustable-wrench in between 10 ~ 40 minutes (penetrating spray may be used to help loosen old seats) depending on the unit. A handyman can typically install a unit in under 20 minutes. Each unit uses either a "T-Valve" that hooks up to the fresh water supply pipe behind your toilet, or a "T-Hose" that replace your existing hoses; both of which supply the unit and your toilet tank with fresh water. Several units require a 110V North American standard three-prong grounded electrical outlet within 4 feet (1.22 meters) of the commode. If one isn't available, one can typically be installed very easily by an electrician in a home built within the last half-century. Irregular or pre-1970s standard plumbing may require certain adapters, which are available at most hardware and plumbing supply stores. Every unit comes with easy-to-read instructions.

Can I return a unit? If your Solution ComfortSeat® unit isn't compatible with your plumbing, toilet, bathroom or doesn't appear to be the right unit for you, you can return it within 30 days if the unit has NOT been used, less S&H. A 10% ~ 15% restocking fee may be applied, depending on condition and completion of the returned unit and parts. After 30 days, special conditions may be applied for returns. Due to the hygenic nature of medical products, we cannot accept a unit that has been hooked up to plumbing or been in contact with human waste. What are your unit warranties? Solution ComfortSeat® units are warrantied to be free of manufacturing defects. How are units shipped? We ship Solution ComfortSeat® units using several different carriers. Within the contiguous 48 United States, units will generally arrive within 2 ~ 4 business days after a unit is ordered. Some of our units (SCS-6000, SCS-4000, and SCS-1000 in particular) are custom assembled, and may require 2 ~ 4 additional days for completion (varies by demand or degree of customization). On average, most units are received within 7 days of being ordered (a few more days might be necessary for deliveries to remote locations).
